Gasthaus zum Freien Stein in Buchheim

In the stupid Corona time we ordered the food here to take away. The menu is a little stripped down. But it is definitely sufficient and there is something for everyone. We were welcomed and served in a very friendly manner. The food was great. The chips were still crispy even after a 15-minute drive to our home. The champion sauce was delicious. The schnitzel is perfect and tender, as is the roast. The only thing was that the Kässpätzle had a little too little salt, but that is a matter of taste and you can spice it up. From that everything super delicious. And the portions are very good too.

The best roast beef I've ever had. Every time I order it, it tasted exactly the same as the first time. Consistent quality across the entire menu. The boss and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Greetings to the kitchen. I can only recommend.

First class food! Since we already had very good experiences in the open stone and were nearby, we walked to the restaurant for almost an hour. And we were not disappointed! A very nice waitress even brought a bowl of water for our dog. The food was freshly prepared - we had to wait a bit, but it was worth it! The onion roast was seared to perfection and my pork schnitzel with creamy mushroom sauce was delicious too. Spaetzle like from nuts! We can only recommend the free stone.

I can only agree with the others: friendly staff, great food, prices okay. Have been there three times so far and never been disappointed!

Extensive menu with moderate prices and very friendly hosts. My onion roast was cooked to the point and very well seasoned and the onions that went with it were homemade and crispy.

For example, if you are a guest in the Leibertingen Camping Garden and are looking for a decent restaurant, you are definitely at the right place in the Zum free Stein building. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive during our visits. Both times we were happy about the good service. The prices are absolutely okay. The food, at least what we ate, is absolutely excellent. I have to admit that I've never eaten such a good schnitzel in restaurants. The breading is perfect and with the schnitzel with mushroom sauce, the sauce is a poem. It is advisable to reserve a table in good time, as the inn is very well attended, and rightly so. And while dogs are allowed in the restaurant, the good tone dictates that you ask briefly when making a reservation. All in all, an absolute recommendation.

Nice rustic inn with charm. The waitresses were all very friendly and accommodating. Change requests no problem at all. Delicious freshly tapped Augustiner and a large selection of dishes. My onion roast beef with Kösspätzle and a side salad were awesome 😋. The “Wiener Art” schnitzel was also perfect. The price-performance ratio is great! Paying by card is also no problem at all. We were definitely not there for the last time.

There were four of us and we didn't know that there were seats outside. Upon request, we could also change our reservation to a seat outside. We all really enjoyed the food. We had schnitzel with french fries and spaetzle, the grill skewer, a beef steak with waffle potatoes (more like chips) and a very tasty vegetarian dish with porcini mushrooms. Extra requests were implemented without any problems and the service always asked attentively whether we needed anything. The only thing that wasn't so good: on my dish there was a small piece of plastic packaging that was probably cut off from the parmesan ... In the picture you can see it on the top left of the parmesan. Nevertheless, we will definitely go back;)

Not eaten such a good onion roast for a long time! :) This restaurant is highly recommended! Great drinks and menu, friendly staff in a cozy atmosphere ... I would only be in the area more often ... I'll be back! :)

Yes, what can one say, to the free stone is truly a country inn as it should be. Friendly and prudent service despite full house, very delicious food, we had curry soup (super delicious with charming coconut and sharpness), a neat side salad and a fried onion roast with Kässpätzle and Kässpätzle with roasted onions. Also the spaetzle a poem. There is a good selection of beers and wines. We had a very tasty white sancerre as a recommendation. It is recommended to reserve in any case. Just 5 minutes away from Beuron in the Danube valley is a visit to a nice hike. Apart from the delicious food you will also learn a very interesting story about how the house got its name. The authentic decor completes the experience. We will be back! Thanks to the great team.
